Terms and Conditions (T&Cs)

1. Description of the service

French by Alice offers online French as a Foreign Language (FLE) lessons for adults.
Lessons are provided online via Zoom, either individually, in pairs (duo), or in small groups of 3 to 4 people.

The services offered include:
– Conversation lessons
– General French lessons
– Duo lessons
– Small-group lessons

3. Registration and booking

Lesson requests are made through the contact form available on the website.
After receiving the request, French by Alice will contact the student by email to confirm availability, schedule and lesson arrangements.

For duo and small-group lessons, schedules are arranged according to the participants’ common availability.

French by Alice may also offer a preliminary discussion of approximately fifteen (15) minutes to discuss learning objectives and explain how the lessons work and these Terms and Conditions of Sale.

A booking is considered confirmed only after confirmation by email and receipt of payment.

4. Prices

The applicable prices are those displayed on the website at the time of the request.
French by Alice reserves the right to change its prices at any time. However, the price of the lesson, package or selected course option remains guaranteed once the booking has been confirmed.
All prices are expressed in euros (€).

5. Payment terms

The accepted payment methods are:

• PayPal
• Bank transfer

Single lessons
Payment must be made in full before the lesson begins.

Lesson packages and duo or small-group lessons
Payment must be made in full before the first lesson begins.

No lesson can take place until payment has been received.
An electronic invoice will be sent to the student after payment has been received.

6. Lesson Arrangements

French lessons take place online via Zoom, at the times agreed upon when booking.
For duo and small-group lessons, schedules are set in advance and are the same for all participants.

Lessons are available from Monday to Friday, between 9 a.m. and 8 p.m. (Paris time).

7. Cancellations and rescheduling

Individual lessons
All cancellations must be made by email to contact@frenchwithalice.com.
An individual lesson may be cancelled or rescheduled with at least forty-eight (48) hours’ notice.
If a lesson is cancelled less than 48 hours before the scheduled time, it will be considered completed and remains payable.

 

Duo lessons
If only one person is absent or cancels, the lesson will take place as scheduled and will not be rescheduled or refunded for the absent person.
A rescheduling request may be made if both participants request it at least 48 hours in advance, subject to French by Alice’s availability.

 

Small-group lessons
Lessons take place on the dates and at the times scheduled in advance. The absence or cancellation of one participant does not entitle them to a rescheduled lesson or a refund.

 

Cancellation by French by Alice
If French by Alice cancels a lesson, it will be rescheduled at no additional cost.

8. Late arrival and no-shows

  • If a student is late, the lesson will still end at the originally scheduled time.
  • For an individual lesson, if the student is absent and has not contacted French by Alice in advance, the lesson will be considered completed after a waiting period of ten (10) minutes.
  • For duo and small-group lessons, the lesson will start at the scheduled time even if one participant is absent or late.

9. Validity of lesson packages

Individual lesson packages are valid for six (6) months from the date of the first lesson.
In the event of an extended period of unavailability on the part of French by Alice, the validity period will be extended accordingly.
Any unused lessons remaining at the end of this period will be forfeited, unless otherwise agreed in advance.
Packages are personal, non-transferable and non-renewable.

 

Duo and small-group lessons take place on the dates and at the times scheduled in advance and are not subject to this six-month validity period.

10. Right of withdrawal

n accordance with applicable regulations, students acting as consumers have a fourteen (14)-day period from the date the contract is concluded to exercise their right of withdrawal, without having to provide a reason.

To exercise this right, the student must send a request by email to contact@frenchwithalice.com before the fourteen (14)-day period expires.

If the student expressly requests that lessons begin before the end of the withdrawal period, they acknowledge that any lessons already provided before the right of withdrawal is exercised remain payable in proportion to the services provided.

If the service has been fully performed before the end of the withdrawal period, with the student’s prior express consent and acknowledgement that they will lose their right of withdrawal, the right of withdrawal can no longer be exercised.

11. Refunds

Single individual lessons
Any lesson that has been fully completed is non-refundable.

 

Individual lesson packages
A request to cancel and obtain a refund for a package may be made after the first lesson only, subject to the provisions relating to the right of withdrawal.
The first lesson remains payable and cannot be refunded if it has already taken place.
Once the second lesson has taken place, no refund will be granted for the remaining lessons.

 

Duo and small-group lessons
Lessons are non-refundable if a participant is absent or cancels. The rescheduling conditions set out in Section 7 remain applicable.

All refund requests must be made by email to contact@frenchwithalice.com.

12. Exams and certificates

French by Alice helps students prepare for official French exams and certifications (DELF, TCF, CLOE, etc.) but cannot guarantee any particular result, diploma or certification. Results depend, among other factors, on the student’s personal work and the assessment criteria established by each examination body.

A certificate of attendance or level may be provided upon request.
This certificate is for educational and informational purposes only and does not constitute an official qualification or certification recognised by a government body or examination centre.

 
 

13. Technical issues

If a technical issue attributable to French by Alice (Internet connection, equipment or platform) prevents the lesson from taking place, the lesson will be rescheduled or refunded.

If the technical issue is attributable to the student, the lesson remains payable.

If a technical issue prevents the lesson from proceeding normally, French by Alice reserves the right to offer a rescheduled or rearranged session.

14. Intellectual property

All teaching materials provided by French by Alice (documents, exercises, audio recordings, videos, worksheets and written content) are intended strictly for personal use.

Any reproduction, distribution, sharing or commercial use is prohibited without the prior written permission of French by Alice.

 

15. Personal data

Personal data collected in connection with lesson enquiries, bookings and communications with French by Alice is used solely for managing lessons and communicating with the student.

Information about how personal data is processed, how long it is retained and the student’s rights is provided in the Privacy Policy available on the website.

16. Complaints

In the event of a complaint, the student is invited to contact French by Alice first by email at the following address: contact@frenchwithalice.com, in order to seek an amicable solution.

17. Applicable law

These Terms and Conditions are governed by French law.
